Bento #7

Roast pork, broccoli, and white rice.

PREP TIME: 2 minutes

Okay, I've been waking up progressively later as the week goes on. Thank god it's Friday though, right?

Anyway, I sort of cheated on this one. My mom brought home some roast pork from Flushing so I reheated some of it and used it here. Then she cooked broccoli again so I stole some of that too.

That's really it though... I guess I could have added some grape tomatoes, but it didn't occur to me at the time.

Bento #6

Lettuce, grape tomatoes, a hard-boiled egg, and white rice with soy sauce and pepper.

PREP TIME: 15 minutes

Again, prep time can be attributed to the eggs. Let me just start off by saying though how tasty this bento was. And best of all, it was totally unintentional.

See, I wanted to use the grape tomatoes because as you can tell, they're beginning to diminish in freshness. Still lacking in the "vegetable" area of my meal though, I decided that lettuce would work great. And since I absolutely loved using the egg slicer, I thought another hard-boiled egg would go great with the mini-salad.

But then I came across the problem of what I would eat with my white rice. Not having time to redo my lunch, I then haphazardly splashed some soy sauce on the rice and sprinkled some black pepper on top.

And you know what? That ended up being pretty good. I was utterly surprised when I tasted it. Amazing what a little soy sauce can do, eh?

Bento #5

Broccoli, grape tomatoes, a hard-boiled egg, and white rice.

PREP TIME: 15 minutes (not including rice)

Yeah, last week was a bad week. I kept waking up late so either my dad packed my lunch for me or I ended up not bringing anything at all. Anyway...

This is definitely one of my more colorful bentos, and I must say that I find having three different types of food instead of two really improves the aesthetics of the lunch itself. Who cares since it's going to the same place anyway? Well I obviously do.

Everything in this bento was fresh, even the rice which for once isn't from the night before. The reason why the prep time is so long though is because of the eggs, but the cool part of this for me was that I actually got to use this egg slicer my family has had for years (and that I was always dying to use as a kid). I must admit, even though it's just an egg slicer, that was the awesome-est part of my morning.

Chicken, mustard greens, and white rice.

PREP TIME: Um... see below.

My dad actually decided to pack my lunch for me today. Um... I guess that's cool. Thanks?

Bento #3

Mustard greens, chicken, Shanghai bok choy, and white rice.

PREP TIME: 2 minutes (it was all fresh so all I did was put it in)

My father cooked things this morning just for my mother and me... isn't that nice? It's amazing how the freshness shows in the picture too. Anyway, you'll notice that I actually have the names of the vegetables right, now that I'm the one buying them. Haha...
